Meetings of various IAP Committees were held with the
President, Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Swati Y. Bhave in the months
of February and March 2000. A summary of deliberations of these meetings
is given below.
-
IAP/AAP Meeting : A meeting was held on
February 4, 2000 between the IAP representatives (President and
President-Elect) and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) representatives
(President’s Representative and Executive Director). Many collaborative
plans between the two associations were discussed. Important amongst these
are Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) mannequins for IAP PALS courses
and compilation of a list of centers in USA, which will take IAP members
for training in USA. This list is to be kept in the IAP office to be sent
to interested members. The AAP has started office-based research for its
practicing pediatricians. A similar model is to be tried for IAP members.
This model will be put for ratification before the Executive Board (EB)
members. After approval by the EB members, other plans will be notified.
-
Adolescent Committee: A meeting was held on
March 4, 2000 with the Convener of Adolescent Pediatrics Chapter (formally

India (GOI), Family Welfare Department under Reproductive and Child Health
(RCH) program. The state branches of IAP were to be requested to send one

workshops in every state and district depending upon available resources.
All this would be executed through various IAP Branches and the plan of
action would be circulated to all IAP Branches.
