Textbook of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition is an excellent book by eminent pediatric gastroenterologists. Authors have done a good job in covering common gastrointestinal and liver disorders in children. The book has three sections with 37 chapters. Lucid and crisp presentation of gastroenterology in first section is worth reading. Second section deals with important aspects of nutrition. Special mention must be made for hepatology chapters, which make the book complete. The contents are recent, chapters are written in easy to understand language, and are illustrated by good quality figures and tables. This book is worthy of possession by every postgraduate trainee in Pediatrics and Pediatric gastroenterology.

Frequently Asked Questions in Pediatric & Adolescent Practice

A Parthasarathy,

Jaypee Brothers Medical Publishers (P) Ltd., New Delhi: 2015.

Pages: 927; Price: Rs. 1295/-.

The book comprising of 30 chapters comprises of more than 600 frequently asked questions starting from newborn period, childhood and adolescents, encompassing all the systems. The galaxy of about 60 authors who are experts in various fields have made significant contributions, and with their rich clinical experience added clarity along with brevity to the subject matters. It is worth mentioning that some of the sections like Immunization, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Hematology, Poisonings, Adolescent health and Dermatology have been very well covered. Some of the sections have appropriate tables and photographs. Even though the book appears voluminous, certain important sections have been inadequately covered. The book could have afforded to have more tables, algorithms and illustrative figures and photographs. This book can be a supplement for all health care providers, especially the practicing physicians with an interest in Pediatric practice and also for the students and residents.
